SpeakEasy Stage Company Extends IN THE HEIGHTS Again thru 6/30
Due to overwhelming demand, SpeakEasy Stage Company has added two additional weeks of performances to its Boston Regional Theatre Premiere production of the Tony Award-winning musical IN THE HEIGHTS. The show will now play thru Sunday, June 30, at which point it has to close.
Tickets for these added performances will go on sale Friday, May 31 at 9am for online sales and at noon for phone and walk-up sales.
All original cast members, except ensemble member Christian Denzel Bufford, will remain for the additional weeks. Amos Oliver will join the ensemble for these final performances.
Winner of four 2008 Tony Awards including Best Musical, IN THE HEIGHTS is a potent reminder of the importance of following your heart and finding where you belong. Set in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood, this joyous musical fuses hip hop, salsa, and jazz to tell the stories of the everyday lives of a close-knit Latino community on the brink of change.
IN THE HEIGHTS is the creation of Tony Award-winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (music & lyrics) and Pulitzer Prize-winner Queria Alegría Hudes (book).
The SpeakEasy Stage Company production was directed by SpeakEasy Producing Artistic Director Paul Daigneault and features music direction by Nicholas James Connell and choreography by Larry Sousa.
The design team is Jenna McFarland Lord (scenic); Elisabetta Polito (costumes); Karen Perlow (lighting), and Eric Norris (sound/sound engineer). Amy Louise Spalletta is the Production Stage Manager.
IN THE HEIGHTS is being performed in the Roberts Studio Theatre in the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont St. in Boston's South End.
