Winner of the HOLA award for outstanding new play and the ACE award for best director/drama, both for La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (The Light Of A Cigarette), Marco Antonio Rodriguez's new play, Barcelo On Ice, is a finalist in Spanish Repertory's Nuestras Voices playwriting competition and will receive a free public reading (in Spanish) on Monday, November 19, 6:30 pm. Barcelo On Ice competed with over 75 other works and was selected as one of only nine finalists!

Drama / Comedy: After receiving an unexpected medical diagnosis, Nino Antonio Cruz, a Dominican cibaeño residing in New York with his ??two sons, is forced to confront his mortality in a whirlwind of memories, secrets and ghosts connected to the first years of the regime of Dr. Joaquin Balaguer in the Dominican Republic. The surprising revelations that come to light shake the already unstable family base and forces Nino to confront the demons that have slowly been destroying his body, soul and family.

The public reading of Barcelo On Ice will be directed by award winning director, Jose Zayas. The cast includes Fermin Suarez, Villilo Stewart, Juan Carlos Diaz, Fernando Then and Modesto Lacen.

Reading: Monday, November 19th, 6:30pm. In Spanish!
