Smiling Rhino Theatre Presents CABARET, 3/18-4/9

By:

The musical Cabaret will be presented at Smiling Rhino Theatre weekends beginning March 18-April 9, 2011. The winner of 12 Tony Awards for both the original and revival productions, Cabaret is a brilliantly conceived musical masterpiece. The movie starred Liza Minelli and Joel Grey and was directed by Bob Fosse. Smiling Rhino Theatre's version is being directed by Joseph Elefante who toured the country from Fla. to Alaska in a national bus and truck tour of Cabaret. The choreographer is Terese Opiela who just recently received rave reviews for her choreography of SRT's 42nd Street this past fall.

The scene is a night club in Berlin, as the 1920's are drawing to a close. The Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the Cabaret. The Kit Kat Klub is a decadent refuge from the political turmoil outside. His songs provide wry commentary throughout the show and offers social commentary between numbers by English expatriate and party girl Sally Bowles, who believes that life is a cabaret. Popular musical numbers include, Wilkommen, Cabaret, Maybe This Time, Don't' Tell Mama, Two Ladies, and more! Ticket price is $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and $20 for children 17 and younger (plus tax) Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Group rates of 10 or more receive a discount. Cabaret is intended for mature audiences only. Smiling Rhino Theatre is located at 247 Wanaque Avenue in Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442. The number to call for tickets is 973-248-9491. Visit Smiling Rhino Theatre's website at www.smilingrhinotheatre.com.
