Slightly Askew Theatre Ensembles to present All-Female MACBETH in July

By:

Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble, a 2009 Kevin Kline Award nominee for Outstanding Ensemble in a Play, presents a unique spin on Shakespeare's Scottish Play with an all-female cast in the Old Post Office Plaza, downtown's newest open space, for THREE WEEKENDS in July and August.

As the second offering in their YEAR OF ROARING WOMEN, SATE will use Shakespeare's classic tragedy of ambition and power to explore what it is to be feminine, and the roles women play in positions of power and government today.

To bring Macbeth to life in this unprecendented style, SATE will also use the plaza's modern, urban setting, as well as the movement-based methods of Suzuki, Viewpoints, and contact improv.

SATE, in partnership with Downtown Now!, is the first theatre company to perform on the Plaza, showcasing the versatility of the open space, and is proud to be furthering its mission of outreach by bringing free, live theatre to downtown St. Louis.

Admission is free, and audiences are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Parking is available in nearby garages and street meters.

The Ensemble includes Sarajane Alverson, Cara Barresi, Darlene Bry, Tonya Darabcsek, Audrey Martin, Emily Piro, Elizabeth Pajares, Erin Roberts, Ellie Schwetye, Margeau Baue Steinau, Ashley Spivak, Kimberly C. Weller, and Kirsten Wylder.

The production is directed by Rachel Tibbetts.
