Single Carrot and Everyman Join CENTERSTAGE in Free Readings of Martin McDonagh Works

Single-Carrot-and-Everyman-Join-CENTERSTAGE-in-Free-Readings-of-Martin-McDonagh-Works-20010101

CENTERSTAGE will be joined by company members from Everyman and Single Carrot for free readings of the other two plays in Martin McDonagh's Leenane Trilogy, hosted by Liam Flynn's Ale House Sunday nights at 8 pm on January 22 and 29.

The zany characters in A Skull in Connemara belong to a community of quirky Irish men and women, gossiped about by Mick and Maryjohnny over poteen on many a rainy night. But their lives extend beyond Mick's dingy cottage. McDonagh tells their tales in The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Lonesome West; together with A Skull in Connemara, they form the Leenane Trilogy.

The Beauty Queen of Leenane will be read on Sunday, January 22, and The Lonesome West will be read on Sunday, January 29. Both readings begin at 8 pm, and feature company members and associates from Single Carrot and Everyman, as well as other local talent. Participating actors include: Nathan Cooper, Genevieve de Mahy, Rich Espey, Nathan Fulton, Giti Jabaily, Rosemary Knower, Bruce Nelson, and Susan Rome. The readings will take place at Liam Flynn's Ale House, 22 W. North Avenue, and are free and open to the public.

A Skull in Connemara runs Jan 25–Mar 4 in CENTERSTAGE's Head Theater. Tickets are $10- $45, and can be ordered online at www.centerstage.org/skull, or by calling 410.332.0033. This production is supported by an operating grant from the Maryland States Arts Council

The State Theater of Maryland, CENTERSTAGE will soon announce its 50th Anniversary Season. The not-for-profit company serves as a local hub and national leader for smart, provocative, and entertaining theater and as a catalyst for conversation with the community. Each year, a consistently broad range of productions in two intimate performing spaces attracts highly diverse audiences of more than 100,000 people-including more than 8,000 fiercely loyal members, many of whom have been with the theater during its entire history. Additionally, CENTERSTAGE offers a variety of dramaturgical, community, and educational programs to broaden access and enhance the theatergoing experience.
