Shaw’s THE MILLIONAIRESS Begins Tonight

By:

Three days of Shaw Festival summer openings start tonight at the Court House Theatre with Bernard Shaw's comedy The Millionairess.

Opening performances continue on Friday at the Royal George Theatre with the evening presentation of William Inge's moving drama Come Back, Little Sheba. On Saturday, the Court House Theatre hosts the opening of this season's lunchtime one-act, Leonard Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, a jazz-infused portrait of marriage in the Mad Men era. Later that evening, the July opening festivities conclude at the Festival Theatre with the Canadian premiere of His Girl Friday, John Guare's inspired rapid-fire pressroom romantic comedy which combines Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's original play The Front Page with the screen version of His Girl Friday.

In celebration of these exciting new productions, dignitaries from local government, Canada's artistic and business communities, and Shaw supporters will attend gala dinners prior to the opening night performance of Come Back, Little Sheba and after the opening of His Girl Friday.
