Seattle Center Hosts Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival, 6/4-5

Pagdiriwang means celebration, and Seattle Center Festál: Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival offers exploration and insights into the traditions, culture and modern arts of the Philippines, June 4 - 5, Saturday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, 12 noon - 5 p.m., in Center House and Fisher Pavilion.

Learn how to wear the malong, dance the rhythmic Tinikling and partake in delicious Filipino cuisine. This annual celebration of the arts and culture of the Philippines feaures colorful costumes and pageantry, Filipino bands, hands-on children's activities, Philippine weave exhibits and martial arts.

Special events and guests include:
Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble from San Francisco performing tribal dances on indigenous musical instruments in partnership with Filipinas Performing Arts of Washington State.
Visual artists Grandier Gil Bella and Gem Bella, visiting from Manila.
Visual artist and lutenist Charles Wandag, visiting from Ohio.
Local guest artists Weng Gavino (metal artist) and Olivia Zapata (visual artist).
Kalinga Weaver, Jenny Bawer Young, visiting from San Francisco.
The 21 Seattle Center Festál cultural celebrations highlight The Common forms of tradition and expression among ethnic communities in the Pacific Northwest, while underscoring their unique creative contributions, customs, foods and ideals. Each event offers moving entertainment and fascinating insight into a different culture of the world.
