Seattle Center Festal Presents TURKFEST, 10/15 & 16

Seattle Center Festal invites you to Explore, Experience and Enjoy TurkFest. TurkFest offers entertainment, exploration and insights into the culture of Turkey, Oct. 15 - 16, 12 noon - 7 p.m., in Center House.

Savor a cup of Turkish tea or coffee and taste Turkish cuisine, while you experience how the Ottoman culture influenced Balkan food, music, dance, customs and language. This enriching and engaging festival of friendship celebrates the multiple cultures that link modern Turkey to the East and West.

Some of performers this year include:

Ahmet Erdogdular Ensemble (Ahmet Erdogdular, Ömer Erdogdular, Münir Nurettin Beken,
Feridun Özgören), preserving the classical singing style of the Ottoman Turkish musical tradition
Karavans Dance Troupe
Emiko Noor, specializing in Persian, Turkish and East-Indian Devotional, Classical and Folk
Dances
Sehr-i Seattle, focusing on traditional and modern Turkish music
Anadolu Folk Dancers, founded in 1979 to present authentic Turkish folk dances from the
Aegean, Thrace, Black Sea, Southern, and Southeastern regions of Turkey
Anadolu Youth Dancers
Anar Dana, Helene Eriksen's Traditional Dance Theater

The 21 Seattle Center Festál cultural celebrations highlight The Common forms of tradition and expression among ethnic communities in the Pacific Northwest, while underscoring their unique creative contributions, customs, foods and ideals. Each event offers moving entertainment and fascinating insight into a different culture of the world.
