Tonight, September 23rd, there will be an invitation only industry reading of Susan Ferrara's new play BUZZ at The Atlantic Theater Stage 2. The cast will include Sam McMurray (A Soldier's Play, Raising Arizona), Anatol Yusef (Richard III, Boardwalk Empire), Marcia DeBonis (Fran's Bed, 13 Going on 30), Vince Gatton (Drama Desk Nominee-Candy & Dorothy), Tom Riis Farrell (Coram Boy), Julie Ann Emery (Hitch), John Preston (As You Like It), Zack Calhoon (Hamlet), and Lori Prince (Lyric is Waiting) as Buzz.

Stage directions will be read by Kevin Earley (2012 Drama Desk Nominee-Death Takes a Holiday) The Staged reading will be directed by Eleanor Holdridge. Winner of the 2012 Next Generation Playwriting Award-Reverie Productions, BUZZ is inspired by the short life and mysterious death of UK director MaryAnn "Buzz" Goodbody.

One of only three women directing in the UK in the 1970s, Buzz Goodbody was the first woman to direct at the RSC. She converted a tin storage shack into a theater called The Other Place. In 1975, Goodbody famously mounted a minimalist, ground breaking production of Hamlet that The Times theatre critic Irving Wardle hailed as: "an astounding revelation of the most excavated play in the world, ranking with Peter Brook's A Midsummer Night's Dream as the key classical production of the decade". Four days after the first performance, she was found dead in her flat.

Susan Ferrara's other plays include The Machine (O'Neil Semi-Finalist, New Dramatists Semi-Finalist), Suicide on Pennsylvania Avenue (terraNova Collective Groundbreakers), Peasant (The Zipper Theatre), and F**king Hell (Daryl Roth, D2Studios).
