STRIPPED THE PLAY Opens April 14
By: Harmony Wheeler
Naked Boys Singing lowered the curtain last month after a thirteen year run. "Stripped" will be there in April to carry on the tradition. "Stripped" is the brainchild of cast member Steve Stanulis, actor, former Chippendales dancer and former NYPD officer.
Directed by veteran actor Geoffrey Cantor, "Stripped" offers a glimpse into the dreams and disappointments of its five characters. "STRIPPED" is a look at the world of male strippers seen through the eye of four 'male peelers', whose lives are inextricably linked to each other through their dancing troupe. From the backstreets of Brooklyn, the brownstones of Hells Kitchen and the tree-lined streets of Park Slope these four aging and angst-ridden men descend upon Manhattan females with their dance troupe. These 4 men are not your average peelers. They have come to New York to entertain and bare their bodies and their souls to women who look to ravish them. "STRIPPED", strips these mens psyches down to floor as they shake their money makers. As they 'suit up' physically they 'suit down' mentally as they wrestle with their newly found humanity. STRIPPED is a comical, sexy and exhilarating take on the world of male stripping. Their only job is to entertain you and entertain you they do as they brandish their bodies to an effervescent female audience, who beg for more. On the outside their performances are stunning, while inside their personalities and egos crumble inexorably. "STRIPPED" examines the delicate male psyche, taut, broken and pulled apart onstage like a dysfunctional troupe family and promises be here for a long time.
