STAGE TUBE: Sneak Peek - NBC's Direct-to-DVD Movie AN AMERICAN GIRL

NBC will premiere the direct-to-DVD movie AN AMERICAN GIRL: MCKENNA SHOOTS FOR THE STARS on Saturday, July 14 at 8:00/7:00c. Nia Vardalos, Jade Pettyjohn, Ian Ziering, Kerris Dorsey and Cathy Rigby star in the film, due in stories on July 3.

NBC MOVIE OF THE WEEK - "AN AMERICAN GIRL: MCKENNA SHOOTS FOR THE STARS" - A talented young gymnast turns trials into triumphs in the inspiring new feature-length movie, An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars(TM).

McKenna Brooks(TM) is a determined and confident young gymnast in this all-new modern-day adventure. She is on track to make the regional competitive gymnastics team, but off-track in school where she's suddenly struggling to keep up. When McKenna's(TM) teacher suggests a tutor, she's embarrassed and desperate to keep it a secret from her friends. Then a bad fall at the gym sidetracks her from her favorite sport. Will she recover in time to make the team? Can she succeed in school, too? McKenna(TM) needs to focus on her strengths to overcome her challenges -- and, with the help of family and friends, find a way to believe in herself again.

Inspired by the beloved American Girl(R) line of dolls and featuring the celebrated 2012 Girl of the Year(R), the film stars Oscar(R) nominee Nia Vardalos, Jade Pettyjohn as McKenna(TM), Ian Ziering, Kerris Dorsey and former Olympic gymnast Cathy Rigby.
