As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, members of the infamous religious organization the Westboro Baptist Church are protesting outside of The Juilliard School in New York City. Largely known for their demonstrations at military funerals and routine hate speech, the group has selected Juilliard as the stage for their latest demonstration citing anger at what they term, "the vanity called 'The Arts'."

An announcement on the group's website takes aim at the leading arts institution by quoting several bible verses and states, "If you had taught those children to invest 5% of the energy they use for the vanity called 'The Arts', America would not be leading the world in racing to destruction. Clarifying, God will not ever have idolatry, fornication, adultery, divorce and remarriage (which Christ said is adultery, at Luke 16:18, and other places) sodomy, same-sex marriage, murder, lying, stealing and all the rest of your proud sin, including your awful pride."

Students of the school countered the protest this morning with a performance piece titled, "God Loves Jazz."
