By:

The Tony Award winning musical South Pacific starring Lisa McCune and Teddy Tahu Rhodes opened at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC) Lyric Theatre with performances from 27 December 2012. A Sydney return is scheduled for 2013.

South Pacific earned seven Tony Awards including Best Revival. It premiered at the Sydney Opera House on August 8, then transferred to the Princess Theatre in Melbourne, Sept. 13-Oct. 21.

Acclaimed opera star Teddy Tahu Rhodes, four time Gold Logie award-winning Australian actress Lisa McCune, Australian musical theatre star Daniel Koek, award winning Australian singer Christine Anu and award winning Australian actor Gyton Grantley, head the stellar cast as Emile de Becque, Nellie Forbush, Lieutenant Joseph Cable, Bloody Mary and Luther Billis.

Now it's Queensland's chance to experience this breathtaking and lavish Rodgers and Hammerstein musical which received rave reviews in Melbourne, and was the highest selling show ever staged at Sydney Opera House when it premiered in August this year

Considered one of the finest musicals ever written, the score includes Some Enchanted Evening, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair and There is Nothin' Like a Dame. With a cast of 40 and an orchestra twice the size of most musicals, this international hit and landmark production is not to be missed.
