BroadwayWorld has learned that the planned San Francisco 'Best of Broadway' series world premiere engagement of the musical EVER AFTER, based on the popular 1998 Twentieth Century Fox film has been indefinitely postponed. Shorenstein Hays Nederlander Theatres, overseen by Carole Shorenstein Hays and Robert Nederlander, was set to present EVER AFTER this April as part of their 2009 season.

EVER AFTER producer Adam Epstein (Hairspray, The Wedding Singer, Cry-Baby) said in a statement, "The previously announced production of EVER AFTER has been moved from this season's line up as the creative team continues to develop the musical for a future production."

Doug Hughes, who received a 2005 Tony Award for directing Doubt, was to helm the Broadway-bound musical version of the romantic fantasy; the show boasts a score by songwriters Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich (Junie B. Jones, The Marcy and Zina Show, "Taylor, The Latte Boy"). Heisler and Theresa Rebeck have penned the musical's book.

Heisler and Goldrich joined the creative team after Hughes and Epstein conducted an "architecture-like contest, inviting a number of songwriting teams to submit material."

Press notes describe EVER AFTER as "a romantic musical adventure that puts a new twist on the beloved Cinderella story. Gone are the magic pumpkins, talking mice and fairy godmother. What remains is a sweeping new musical about a spirited, young heroine who defies all societal constraints in her journey to live happily EVER AFTER."

SHNSF will announce their updated season schedule shortly, for more information on SHNSF please visit, www.shnsf.com.
