SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO Film to Star Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy

A new adaptation David Mamet's SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO is headed for the big screen with some big names attached: Deadline reports that comedian/actor Kevin Hart and Golden Globe nominee Michael Ealy have signed on to play Bernie and Danny, respectively.

The film is being called a remake of 1986's ABOUT LAST NIGHT..., which featured Rob Lowe, Jim Belushi and Demi Moore, although that film was based on the Mamet play as well. Steve Pink (who directed 2010's Hot Tub Time Machine and wrote the screenplay for HIGH FIDELITY, which also had a musical adaptation on Broadway briefly in 2006), is in talks to direct.

Mamet has also written, among his many plays, Speed-the-Plow, American Buffalo, The Duck Variations, and the recent adaptation of The Voysey Inheritance. A two-time Academy Award nominee for The Verdict and Wag the Dog, Mamet's additional film credits include The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Untouchables, Hoffa, and House of Games. He is a member of New York's Atlantic Theater Company, which he founded in 1985 with William H. Macy and Scott Zigler.

SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO focuses on Danny and Deb, two twenty-somethings who begin a tentative fumbling towards love amongst the sexual excesses of the 1970s.  But this awkward beginning of romance is given a harsh introduction to the reality of interpersonal drama by  Bernie, Danny's brash and cynical best friend, and Joan, Deb's fierce and cold roommate.  Mamet's play examines the workings of love and romance in a society where monogamy and commitment have become the perversity.
