Tomorrow night, Friday, November 2nd at 6PM The Invisible Dog is hosting Petr Kotik's "Many Many Women" based on texts by Gertrude Stein and performed by the S.E.M. Ensemble.
S.E.M. was previously scheduled to perform at the Paula Cooper Gallery, and while Invisible Dog is sad to hear that the gallery has been damaged, it is happy to offer S.E.M. space to perform and excited to give you the opportunity to hear this beautiful music live.
Many Many Women is one of Petr Kotik's best-known pieces, due in part to a 1980 recording of a 3 ½-hour excerpt (5 LPs) of the piece released on Labor Records. After its premiere at The Whitney Museum of American Art in 1979, Richard Kostelanetz called the piece a "continually austere and yet engaging," a classic of underground music in the 1970s.
