City Arts Magazine is thrilled to announce the return of Heineken City Arts Fest, a music and arts festival in Seattle, Washington to be held on October 20-22, 2011, in 20 clubs, halls and venues throughout the city.

Heineken City Arts Fest will feature headline performances from alt-country/ rock singer- songwriter Ryan Adams at Benaroya Hall, dance pop artist Robyn at the Paramount Theatre, rock gods Built to Spill at the Moore Theatre (in their only Northwest performance for 2011), electronic dance purveyors Crystal Castles and the Latin flavored hip hop of Ozomatli -- both with shows at Showbox SoDo. City Arts Fest also marks the return of two critically acclaimed hip-hop acts to grace the Showbox Market stage -- Blackalicious (with its first appearance since 2006) & legendary collective Freestyle Fellowship (with its first appearance in 10 years, with original line-up). Other notable acts include Shelby Lynne, The Long Winters, Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine, Mudhoney, the recently reunited Fastbacks, and The Felice Brothers; to up and comers Allen Stone, Campfire OK, Pictureplane, Male Bonding, USF, and more. New this year is the inclusion of the Seattle Laser Dome, hosting "evening with" performances from the likes of Seattle's School of Rock (performing grunge classics), Man Man and Helio Sequence -- set to a laser light show.

Heineken City Arts Fest has also expanded its performing arts line up by teaming up with 4Culture, and working with Sara Edwards to curate the performing and visual arts programming. The arts program features interdisciplinary art showcases, exhibitions and events featuring 30+ local and national artists, and includes four Seattle premieres: The Can Can will play host to celebrated Wooster Group & The Foundry Theatre performer Steve Cuiffo in his one man show Steve Cuiffo is Lenny Bruce, which New York Magazine calls both "masterful" & "eerily accurate"; Daniel Barrow, a Montreal-based projection artist who's supported the likes of Miranda July and Antony and The Johnsons, and been widely exhibited throughout North America, will make his Seattle debut with his award-winning original show Every Time I See Your Picture I Cry. Meanwhile Theatre Off Jackson will host My Mind Is Like An Open Meadow, the five-time Portland Drammy award winning performance by Erin Leddy of Hand2Mouth Theatre; and the world premiere of Seateeth by Jose Bold (John Osebold of "Awesome"), who turned heads recently in the New York by premiering his own original musical "Spidermann" before the Broadway version officially opened.

Other arts showcase highlights include Genre Bender, an exciting new platform for some of Seattle's favorite theater, dance, food, music, literary and performing artists to create new projects (and new artistic genres) together; Ecstasy of Influence with poets Heather McHugh, Kary Wayson, Kate Lebo and Erika Wilder with arts/bluegrass trio The Half Brothers; Pie Life, a storytelling and bakeoff event with hosts Kate Lebo and KUOW's Jeannie Yandel; All-ages, all-levels "Thriller" Dance Class with Waxie Moon, Inga Ingénue and Lou Henry Hoover; So You Think It's Dance? (Show) + Tell with local dance luminaries Jessica Jobaris, The Cherdonna & Lou Show, Douglas Ridings, Malie Martinez and local critics Sandi Kurtz, Leah Baltus, Brendan Kiley, and artist Waxie Moon; The film "Color Me Obsessed" a documentary about the Replacements, along with a covers night in tribute to the band; Visual art exhibits and events by D.K. Pan, nko, Amanda Manitach, Serrah Russell, Klara Glosova, Sierra Stinson and Michael Van Horn. And sing-a-longs to the musical films Hedwig & The Angry Inch, Purple Rain, and Grease.

Heineken City Arts Festival is produced by City Arts, a multimedia company that produces a free monthly magazine that covers music, arts and urban life in the Puget Sound area as well as events throughout the year. The festival sold 23,000 tickets in its inaugural year, with featured performances from the likes of Belle and Sebastian, She & Him, Cat Power and more. Recent City Arts covers have featured Seattle artists Macklemore, Shabazz Palaces and Head & the Heart. Heineken City Arts Fest aims to provide a different festival experience that embraces the indoor, urban lifestyle synonymous with the 9 month NW rainy season and captures the curatorial aesthetic of the monthly magazine. City Arts Magazine is owned and operated by Encore Media Group, a family-owned, Northwest-based publishing company. More information at www.cityartsonline.com.

Ticketing information: Passes starting at $69 will go on sale on August 5th at www.cityartsfest.com.
