Ruben Studdard to Perform at Feinstein's at Loews Regency, 2/7

Ruben-Studdard-to-Perform-at-Feinsteins-at-Loews-Regency-27-20010101

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed “Best of New York” by New York Magazine and “an invaluable New York institution” by The New York Post will continue its Winter/Spring 2012 season with the New York nightclub debut of Grammy Award-nominated “American Idol” winner RUBEN STUDDARD from February 7 to February 11. In addition to jazz, pop and soul standards, he will perform his new single “June 28th (I’m Single)” from his upcoming CD “Letters From Birmingham,” which will be released by Shanachie Entertainment on March 13. This concept album about the ups and downs of modern romance is setting the standard for modern day soul troubadours and boasts stunning performances that range from an angelic falsetto on love songs like “Today” to hard-hitting dance floor grooves like “Turn You Out” that show off a raw vocal edge. The show will run for four nights from February 7 to February 11 at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

RUBEN STUDDARD was crowned the winner of Fox Television’s “American Idol” talent competition in 2003 after pulling over 24 million votes. Since then, the Velvet Teddy Bear (as Gladys Knight nicknamed him for his smoothly soothing vocal style) has produced a string of gold and platinum albums, received Grammy and American Music Award nominations, won the NAACP’s Image Award for Best New Artist, was nominated as Best Gospel Artist at the BET Awards, toured as Fats Waller in a national stage tour of Ain’t Misbehavin’, appeared on various television shows, toured in the comedy drama “Heaven I Need A Hug” with Robin Givens and played a pastor in the Trace Adkins film, Lifted.

His single “Flying Without Wings” debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 while his version of “Superstar” peaked at No. 2 on the R&B chart. In December 2003, his first album, Soulful, had advance orders of over a million copies, automatically qualifying for platinum certification. The record entered The Billboard 200 at No. 1. A follow-up single, “Sorry 2004,” reached No. 9 on the Hot 100 and No. 2 on the R&B chart. Ruben’s next album was “I Need An Angel,” released in November 2004. The sophomore set topped Billboard’s gospel chart and was the magazine’s No. 1 gospel album of the year. Ruben’s third album, “The Return,” found him back in the Top 10, on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The first single, “Change Me,” spent an impressive eight weeks at No. 1 on the Adult R&B list.

In 2004, he won the NAACP’s Image Award for Best New Artist. That same year, he was nominated for Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist at the American Music Awards, Best Male R&B Performance at the Grammys, Best New Soul/R&B or Rap Artist at the Soul Train Awards and Best New Artist and Best Male R&B Artist at the BET Awards. The following year Ruben was nominated as Best Gospel Artist at the BET Awards.

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY will present RUBEN STUDDARD from Tuesday, February 7 through Saturday, February 11. Performances are Tuesday through Thursday at 8:30 PM and Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and 10:30 PM. All performances have a $60.00 cover with $75.00 premium seats and $95.00 up-front seats available. In addition, there is a $40.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required. The club is located at 540 Park Avenue at 61st Street in New York City. For ticket reservations and club information, please call (212) 339-4095 or visit us online at Feinsteinsatloewsregency.com and TicketWeb.com.
