Rover Dramawerks announces auditions for MORE FUN THAN BOWLING by Steven Dietz and directed by Jason Rice

Auditions:
Tuesday, September 6 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Wednesday, September 7 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Callbacks, if needed, will be Saturday, September 10.

Auditions will be at Rover Dramawerks' office space, 521 J Place, Suite 629,
between Plano Parkway and the Bush Turnpike, a half block west of Avenue K.

Brief Synopsis:
If sport is a metaphor for life, a parallel of all things physical and metaphysical, then Jake's life is a 7-10 split. Whether being his own boss in a backwater bowling alley or curbing his daughter's attempts to help him find romance, his days are a dichotomy of life's certainties and death's mysteries, of perfect bowling form and disastrous marriages. He's a quintessential nobody, yet shadowed by a mysterious man with an attaché cuffed to his wrist. A hilarious comedy by the author of our past hit, Private Eyes.

Roles - 2 men and 3 women:
Jake Tomlinson (35-50), a would-be concert pianist with a passion for bowling...and really bad luck. Owner of the Dust Bowl.

Molly (mid to late teens), Jake's daughter by his first wife.

Lois (30-40), Jake's second wife and Molly's stepmother.

Loretta (30-40), Lois' best friend and Jake's third wife. Also Molly's stepmother.

Mister Dyson (30+), a man with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist. (Prefer a black man for this role.)

All roles are available.

• It is highly recommended that you be familiar with the script before auditioning. Please email audition09@roverdramawerks.com for an appointment, and you will be given access to a script.

• Please prepare a 1 minute memorized comedic monologue.

• Be prepared for cold readings from the script.

• A resume and head shot is requested.

• Actors and technicians will receive stipends.

• Rehearsals will begin the week of September 19 in Plano.

More Fun Than Bowling will open Rover's 12th Season and run October 27 - November 19, 2011 at the Cox Building Playhouse in Plano.
