Roulette Presents Barry Altschul 70th Birthday Bash and CD Release Party Tonight

Roulette presents The Barry Altschul 70th Birthday Bash, C.D. release party. + BRAHMA reunion, tonight, January 8, 8pm. The evenings event will be divided, the first half will feature "3dom Factor" with Jon Irabagon- tenor sax and Joe Fonda-bass and the second will be a rare performance by "BRAHMA" with Ray Anderson -trombone, and Mark Helias-bass.

Barry Altschul gained notoriety in the 1960's playing with Paul Bley and Chick Corea and worked steadily throughout the 1970's and 80's with a wide array of musicians both in the avant- garde and "straight ahead" worlds. After a short departure from public performance and spending the majority of his time in Europe, Altschul returned to visibility with two sideman appearances with the FAB trio (Billy Bang and Joe Fonda), and the Jon Irabagon Trio recording "Foxy".

Roulette is located at 509 Atlantic Ave Brooklyn, 2/3/4/5/A/C/G/D/M/N/R/B/Q trains & the LIRR. Cost: $15/10 members/students/seniors.

Roulette - one of New York City's premiere venues for experimental music for over 33 years - has reopened bigger and better than ever. Located in a newly renovated 1920s Art Deco Concert Hall in Downtown Brooklyn, the new Roulette features two levels of seating for up to 400 people (600 standing), an expanded multi-channel sound system, projection screen for film and multi-media events, state-of-the-art lighting system, modular stage, and a specially designed floor to accommodate dance.
