Ron Howard Honored at Museum of the Moving Image, Dec. 4
Ron Howard will be honored by the Museum of the Moving Image at its annual black-tie Salute, to be held this year on Sunday, December 4, 2005 in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. Bravo will tape the festivities to air Saturday, January 7 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
"Ron Howard is one of the best-liked and most admired people in show business. Audiences have grown up with him--and watched him grow up--from a child star on "The Andy Griffith Show" and a teenager on "Happy Days" to his current status as one of Hollywood's most accomplished filmmakers," stated Herbert S. Schlosser, the Chairman of the Museum's Board of Trustees.
Howard, who is a producer as well as a director, won Best Director and Best Picture Academy Awards Awards for his 2001 film A Beautiful Mind; the latter was shared with Brian Grazer. Other film credits as a director include Cinderella Man, The Missing, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Apollo 13, Parenthood, Far and Away, Splash and others; The Da Vinci Code and East of Eden are forthcoming films.
Friends and colleagues Paul Bettany, Paul Giamatti, Brian Grazer, Bryce Dallas Howard, Michael Keaton, Kurt Russell, Jeffrey Tambor and Renee Zellweger will take part in a screening of moments from Howard's career. Co-chairmen for the dinner are Brian Grazer, Richard Lovett, and Ron Meyer with Museum Director Rochelle Slovin and Schlosser presiding over the evening's festivities.
"As the Museum's 21st Salute honoree, Ron Howard joins an exceptional group: Sidney Lumet, Elia Kazan, James Stewart, Sidney Poitier, Mike Nichols, Robert DeNiro, Barbara Walters, Al Pacino, Steven Spielberg, Robin Williams, Martin Scorsese, Goldie Hawn, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Julia Roberts, Mel Gibson, Billy Crystal, Richard Gere and John Travolta," state press notes.
