Deadline.com reports that Roger Bart and Dan Futterman will appear in recurring roles on the upcoming USA network 6-episode drama series POLITICAL ANIMALS. The Washington DC-based series is written by Greg Berlanti and co-stars Sigourney Weaver and Carla Gugino.

POLITICAL ANIMALS tells the story of Elaine Barrish (Weaver), described as "the divorced former First Lady and newly appointed Secretary of State who throws herself into the job after recovering from the dissolution of her marriage and losing the presidential nomination."  Futterman will portray Alex Davies, Bureau Chief of the Washington Journal and romantic interest to Gugino's Susan Berg. Bart will play Barry Harris, new President Garcetti’s Chief Of Staff, who is described as "a weaselly guy who politely despises Elaine and loves cutting her out of policy decisions."

Roger Bart won the Tony Award in 1999 for his performance in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. He was nominated for his performance in The Producers and has also been seen on Broadway in Big River, King David, Triumph of Love, The Frogs and Young Frankenstein. He was also featured last season on the ABC series "The Event" and in the 2005-2006 season of "Desperate Housewives."

Bart has made TV guest appearances on "Traffic Light," "Medium," "Human Target," "CSI: Miami," "Law & Order" and "30 Rock." Other film credits include Law Abiding Citizen with Jamie Foxx, American Gangster, The Stepford Wives and Hostel: Part II. Upcoming film projects include Freaky Deaky, Smiley, April Apocalypse, Excision and A Green Story.
