Music superstar Ricky Martin will soon star as Ché alongside Elena Roger and Michael Cerveris in the upcoming Broadway revival of EVITA, and Martin revealed to V Magazine that he's excited to take on the characteR. Martin told V: 'Che is a really cool character and you can do so much with him. The director said, 'I don't want you to just be Che Guevara. Let's take it to another level. One night you can be him, but the next night I want you to be the taxi driver, the next evening the bartender. Literally, be the voice of the people.' So I won't get bored, that's for sure.'

Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage and Tony Award winner Rob Ashford will also return to direct and choreograph, respectively. This is the first new Broadway production of the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical since it debuted on Broadway more than 30 years ago.

The show will open on Broadway Thursday, April 5, 2012 at The Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway), previews begin Monday, March 12, 2012. Tickets are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com /1-800-745-3000.
