MULTI-PLATINUM GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING RECORDING ARTIST RICHARD MARX TO PERFORM
AT MARRIOTT THEATRE
WITH SPECIAL GUEST MATT SCANNELL

Monday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Richard Marx and special guest, Matt Scannell, will perform a duo acoustic concert at Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive, on Monday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. Marx will perform his classic pop ballads from the 80's and 90's, as well as brand new material from his soon-to-be released album of original songs, Emotional Remains.

Marx has sold over 30 million records and was the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the Top 5 on the U.S. charts. He has written thirteen #1 songs. As a solo artist he has recorded nineteen Top 20 Singles, with seven #1 hits including Hold On To the Nights, Satisfied and Right Here Waiting. Marx and Luther Vandross won the 2004 Grammy "Song of the Year" for Dance With My Father.  This year, his song Everybody, written with and performed by Keith Urban, reached the Country Singles Top 5.

Marx was born in Winnetka and grew up in Highland Park, Illinois. His mother, Ruth, was a singer, and his father, Dick, was a jazz musician and one of Chicago's top jingle writers. Marx began singing jingles written by his father as a child. When he was seventeen, a tape of his music ended up in the hands of Lionel Richie, who encouraged him to move to Los Angeles. After contributing to vocals on several hit Richie songs, Marx released his self-titled debut album in 1987, which had four hit singles and sold nearly 4 million copies in the U.S. In his over 20 year career, he has released a total of eight solo albums and has written and produced mega-hits for artists such as Barbra Streisand,Josh Groban, NSYNC, Natalie Cole, Kenny Rogers and Keith Urban.

Vocalist and guitarist Matt Scannell will join Marx as a special guest at the concert on June 23. Scannell is a member of the chart-topping band Vertical Horizon. His career began in the early 1990's when he founded Vertical Horizon, which sky-rocketed to fame at the end of the decade with colossal hits Everything You Want and You're a God. His music style embodies beautiful songwriting, passionate vocals, and a rich and versatile talent on the guitar.
