Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written early in the career of playwright William Shakespeare about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and, along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays.

The most recent Broadway production took place at the Circle in the Square Theatre in 1977, and starred Pamela Payton-Wright and Paul Rudd. A film version of the play, starring Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth, is currently in post-preduction.
