TAKE ROOT, now in its 7th season, aids in the continued development and performance of new dance work of various aesthetics by providing choreographers with the opportunity to be produced in a paired evening of work. This once a month series supports dance makers by providing our venue, Green Space, with full technical and marketing support.
About the Work:
Renee Gerardo / Dances: Renee Gerardo investigates the nuanced negotiations in and out of relationships to others and ourselves. The dance asks several questions relating to the notion of love and loving; about the intention of love, of sacrifice, of carrying and combining our "stuff" with others and what we then hide of ourselves and when? What does it mean to feel "seen" and to be vulnerable within the context of a relationship? How do we talk to ourselves about ourselves and how to we navigate and negotiate revealing our raw and unfiltered truth? How do we ask for and give support? Through exploration of societal relationship structures and the performers' personal somatic histories the dance seeks out the ways in which these questions ask us to make choices in witnessing, analyzing and supporting each other.
Inclined Dance Project: Inclined Dance Project presents "Heliocentris," an exploration derived from the mechanics and phenomenon of outer space. Drawing inspiration from the spectacles of the universe, the work abstractly explores celestial objects, the Big Bang, constellations, planetary orbits, dark matter, energy, gravity, and more. Athletic, dynamic, and technical movement creates an exciting visual landscape which invites the audience to extend their reaches to the unknown elements of our solar system.
