Regent's Park Open Air Theatre Announces Summer Season

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has today confirmed their complete 2013 season. Pride and Prejudice will follow the previously announced production of To Kill a Mockingbird, whilst The Winter's Tale re-imagined for everyone aged six and over will be staged prior to The Sound of Music to complete the Open Air Theatre's 2013 summer season.

Artistic Director Timothy Sheader will direct Harper Lee's American classic To Kill a Mockingbird, adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel. With designs by Jon Bausor, the play will open the 2013 season on 16 May (running until 15 June 2013). Proving its success across every form, the 1960 novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and the 1962 film adaptation won three Oscars.

Jane Austen's ultimate romantic comedy, Pride and Prejudice will run from 20 June – 20 July. The play is dramatised by Bristol Old Vic's former Artistic Director, Simon Reade.

From 29 June – 20 July, a production of William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale will be tailored specifically for children aged six and over. Using Shakespeare's original text, this follows their previous productions of Pericles, Macbeth and The Tempest especially created for younger audiences.

The Sound of Music will conclude the 2013 season from 25 July to 7 September 2013. Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, this will be the first time that a work by the hit musical-writing partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II has been staged at the Open Air Theatre. Rachel Kavanaugh directed productions at the Open Air Theatre from 1993 – 2006 before her appointment as Artistic Director of Birmingham Rep (2006-2011). She has since directed The Music Man and The Way of the World (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Love Story (Chichester Festival Theatre and West End) Rachel will be joined by Choreographer Alistair David and Olivier Award-winning set and costume designer Peter McKintosh, who joins the team for another season.

Full cast and creative team for all productions will be announced in due course.

Toasting the festive season on 11 December 2012, the Robert Atkins studio at the Open Air Theatre will play host to a festive themed cabaret evening reminiscent of old Manhattan glamour with A Fairytale of New York. The evening will feature cast members from the 2012 season, Rosalie Craig (Ragtime, Finding Neverland, London Road) and Sandra Marvin (Ragtime, Hairspray, Disney's The Lion King), joined by Hadley Fraser (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera) and Adrian Hansel (Hairspray, Starlight Express), performing jazz classics including Santa Baby, The Christmas Song, Let There Be Love, and a rendition of White Christmas.

Priority booking for Members and Patrons for Pride and Prejudice, The Winter's Tale re-imagined for everyone aged six and over and A Fairytale of New York opens at 10am on 31 October 2012.

Priority Booking for Members and Patrons is already open for To Kill a Mockingbird and The Sound of Music.

Public booking for To Kill a Mockingbird, Pride and Prejudice, The Winter's Tale re-imagined for everyone aged six and over, and The Sound of Music opens at 10am on 20 November. Public booking for A Fairytale of New York opens at 10am on 8 November 2012.

Across the 2013 season, the theatre is also extending its BREEZE scheme for those aged 18-25 with over 700 preview tickets available for just £10.
