Reel Talk with Stephen Farber Announces Upcoming Guests

Reel-Talk-with-Stephen-Farber-Announces-Upcoming-Guests-20010101

Stephen Farber, one of the country’s leading film critics and historians, will continue his film series Reel Talk with Stephen Farber at the Wadsworth Theatre in partnership with RICHMARK Entertainment and Landmark Theatres.

Unlike any other preview series,Reel Talk with Stephen Farber allows the film going public to be the first tosample some of the most exciting movies of 2011. Over the last several years, Reel Talk members have had a chance to see several of the major Academy Award winning and nominated films, including “127 Hours,” “Rabbit Hole,” “Slumdog Millionaire”, “Up in the Air,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “The Young Victoria,” “Julie & Julia,” "Juno," "The Secret in Their Eyes," and “The Cove.” The tradition continues this fall, with the season’s most provocative movies followed by revealing discussions with top actors and filmmakers after the screenings. Previous Reel Talk guests have included America Ferrera, Jane Lynch, Michael Caine, Vera Farmiga, Michael Sheen, Laura Linney, Nia Vardalos, John Cusack, Javier Bardem, Claire Danes, as well as major directors James Ivory, Todd Phillips, John Singleton, Jason Reitman, Bill Condon, Mira Nair, and Mike Leigh, not to mention legendary producer Richard Zanuck.

Farber, who moderates each program, is one of the originators of this popular preview screening series, and has been doing it for more than 26 years now. Over the past five years, enrollment in Reel Talk with Stephen Farber at the Wadsworth has grown tremendously, because of the loyal following Farber has attracted. He assembles the series himself - working with the studios to supply the prints and with the filmmakers themselves to be the guests. For the film going public, this effort provides a connection to the movie industry and to the film itself, that is just not available, much less with this kind of authority, just about anywhere else.

A series pass for Reel Talk with Stephen Farber (11 screenings) is $198.00. A series parking pass is available for $90. Individual tickets are available for $22 per screening.

The following information for Reel Talk with Stephen Farber has just been announced:

December 5: RAMPART. This explosive, controversial drama centers on a corrupt cop coming apart at the time of the Rampart police scandal in Los Angeles. Woody Harrelson gives a career-capping performance for director Oren Moverman, who also directed the actor's Oscar-nominated turn in The Messenger. The excellent supporting cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Ned Beatty, Robin Wright, Anne Heche, Cynthia Nixon, Ben Foster, and Steve Buscemi. Guest speakers include producer Lawrence Inglee and actresses Brie Larson and Sammy Boyarsky, who play Harrelson's two daughters.

December 12: YOUNG ADULT. The new collaboration between director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody (who worked together on the Oscar-winning Juno) is a dark comedy about a woman writer who returns to her home town with the hope of rekindling a romance with her high school sweetheart. Oscar winner Charlize Theron gives one of her boldest performances. Patton Oswalt and Patrick Wilson co-star. Guest speakers: director Jason Reitman, screenwriter Diablo Cody, and actor Patton Oswalt.
