The Waterfront Playhouse will conclude their 71st season with the comedy "Red, White and Tuna" by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard. Opening on Thursday, May 5th "Tuna" runs until May 21 with performances Wednesday to Saturday. Please note that all curtain times are at 8:30. Directed by Cameron Murray, "Red, White and Tuna" features two of Key West's most versatile actors, David Black and Mark Watson, who will portray the entire cast of over 25 characters. The production is sponsored by Conch Color with the opening night party sponsored by Jeff Johnson and Hy Conrad.
"Red, White and Tuna" is a satirical portrait of life in Tuna, Texas, where polyester is fashionable, the Lion's Club is too liberal, and Patsy Cline never dies. It's July 4th and Tuna is ripe with tension. Romantic mix-ups, a ruthless struggle to gain the Reunion Queen crown, a UFO-sighting and some bad potato salad could set off more fireworks than a Chinese New Year. The New York Times calls it "howlingly funny!"
"Greater Tuna" and its sequels have been produced all over the world. "A Tuna Christmas" was mounted at the Waterfront in 2002 and starred Mr. Black and Mr. Watson. The popularity of that production made it inevitable that they reunite these characters and once again bring the outrageous shenanigans of "Tuna" back to the Waterfront stage.

This production is sponsored in part by the Monroe Tourist Development Council, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
