Rattlestick's 'GEOMETRY OF FIRE' Ends Extended Run 12/21

By:

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (David Van Asselt, Artistic Director, and Sandra Coudert, Managing Director) has announced a one-week extension of the World Premiere of Geometry of Fire, a new drama by Stephen Belber, directed by Lucie Tiberghien (The Pavilion). Performances began Saturday, November 15th and the show officially opened on Monday, November 24th at 7pm. Originally scheduled to close on December 14th, the show will now end its run on Sunday, December 21, 2008.

The theatre has also announced a series of post-performance talk backs to be moderated by Iraqi war veterans and officials from the Manhattan Vet Center. These discussions, which will include the cast and creative team, will serve as an open forum to discuss the socially relevant aspects of the play and how they are not only vital to our current climate, but also the future.

The scheduled talk backs are as follows:

Wednesday, December 10th - Wendy Katz, PhD, Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom Readjustment Services (VA New York Harbor Health System)

Sunday, December 14th - Joanne Izzo, psychiatric social worker (VA New York Harbor Health System) and 4 Iraqi vets from Gateway Community College (New Haven, CT)

Wednesday, December 17th - Mariel Sosa, GWoT (Global War on Terrorism) Outreach (Manhattan Vet Center Program) and 2-tour Iraqi Veteran

Thursday, December 18th - Todd Owens, former Marine sniper, Operation Iraqi Freedom

In Geometry of Fire, Belber's newest work, we find an investment banker-turned-Marine-sniper recently returned from Iraq and a Saudi-American who just wants to get laid. In any other world, these two guys would be best friends. But when their lives collide in this one, each is forced to survive on the fly. Based on a true story. Geometry of Fire had a developmental production at New York Stage & Film in July 2007.

The cast of Geometry of Fire includes Jeffrey DeMunn (Stuff Happens, K2), Donnie Keshawarz (Tarzan, Taboo), Jennifer Mudge (Fault Lines, The Pavilion) and Kevin O'Donnell (Off Broadway debut).

The creative team is comprised of Robin Vest (sets), Anne Kennedy (costumes), Peter West (lights), Broken Chord Collective (sound), Mary Robinette Kowal (props), Rick Sordelet (fight choreography) and Brian Smallwood (technical director). Katrina Renee Herrmann is Production Stage Manager, Alyssa Ritch is Assistant Stage Manager, and Alice Reagan will serve as Assistant Director.

The performance schedule is as follows: Wednesday - Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are $40.00 and are available through SmartTix (212-868-4444) or www.smarttix.com. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater is located at 224 Waverly Place (off Seventh Avenue South - between West 11th & Perry Streets).
