RS Theatrics Presents SUICIDE, INCORPORATED 5/13-22

By:

RS Theatrics, an offshoot of Soundstage Productions, known for reader's theatre presentations described as "theatre of the mind," departs from its traditions to present Andrew Hinderaker's new play Suicide, Incorporated as a fully staged reading, May 13-22, in their art space at 214 Crestwood Court.

Artistic Director Randy Stinebaker discovered the play in Chicago where it premiered at the Gift Theatre after successful staged readings at Steppenwolf and Chicago Dramatists. Stinebaker got in touch with playwright Hinderaker, who first invited Randy and Ann to see the show, then granted permission for Soundstage to present it as the first production outside Chicago.

Suicide, Inc. is a seriocomedy set inside the offices of Legacy Letters, a start-up company that believes that your suicide note will be the most important document you will ever write, assists their clients (mostly men as that is the key demographic) much the same way as a career placement firm would. When Jason, a new hire with a determined hidden agenda to save his clients is assigned to lonely and desperate Norm, past and present collide.

Co-directed by Randy Stinebaker and Christina Rios, the cast features Charlie Barron, Aaron Dodd, Mark Kelley, Mark Saunders, Kevin Stroup and B Weller.

"Andrew has been wonderful in his support of Soundstage's production," Randy Stinebaker said, "beginning with his willingness to trust us with his play through his consulting energy in helping us mount it.

"I've never encountered such a unique approach to so serious a subject as suicide," he added. "Odd as it may sound considering the material, it's refreshing in its avoidance of the usual tropes surrounding life-ending decisions."

Suicide, Incorporated plays at 8 p.m., Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, May 13-15 and 20-22. For tickets, email RSTheatrics@yahoo.com or call 314-968-8070.
