RENT Offers $20 Seats at DPAC - Jan 20-25

By:

RENT, playing at the Durham Performing Arts Center, is continuing a long established RENT tradition of offering a limited number of discounted orchestra seats.

Tickets will be made available for only $20.00 for each and every performance of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical RENT.

Hurry though, the show, which opened to a snowed in Durham tonight, closes on Sunday, Jan. 25. This is your opportunity to see Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal reprise the roles they originated in the amazing new Durham Performing Arts Center.

The $20 rush ticket tradition started in New York when the show first moved to Broadway. Since then people, including myself, have camped out over night to secure some fantastic seats at a bargain price.

The producers of the RENT are committed to continuing the tradition in each city the show plays. “In keeping with the spirit of the show and the vision of Jonathan Larson (the show’s creator) we are happy to be able to offer prime seats to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase them,” explained original Rent producer Kevin McCollum. “Jonathan was himself a struggling artist and his dream was to create a universal piece of musical theatre that’s available to everyone.”

The $20 tickets go on sale at the DPAC box office, on the day of performance only, two hours prior to the show and are available to anyone, cash only, with a limit of two tickets per person.

Rent makes its Durham premiere at DPAC January 20-25, 2009. The $20 tickets are available at the DPAC box office only. For general ticket information, call 919-680-ARTS or visit DPACnc.com.
