Pulitzer Prize Winner 'Rabbit Hole'

Rabbit Hole: A realistic portrayal of emotions.

Florida Studio Theatre will be closing its 2007 Summerfest Season with the award winning drama Rabbit Hole.  Beginning Wednesday, August 8th, 2007, this Pulitzer Prize winning play will surely tug at audience's heartstrings through Sunday, August 26th.

Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire is a realistic portrayal of a family coping with loss.  After a life-shattering accident, the Corbett family find themselves in the midst of an overwhelming world of emotions.  The play shifts from moments of tension to those of humor, which is what makes this show true to the human experience.

This play was awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for drama. The award winning script features dialogue that not only provides information about the characters, but allows a glimpse into how they feel about themselves, others, and their situation.  Desires and ambitions still remain even after a tragedy, whether these are suppressed or pursued depends on the individual and their own way of dealing with loss.  Overall, this is a story about how grief can change people's lives for better or worse.  Most importantly, this story will leave the audience with a feeling of hope, and that hope still remains even after a tragedy.

Bringing this realistic drama to the stage will be FST artists including Ashley West (The Play About the Baby) and Drew Foster (The Goat), as well as FST newcomers: Jenny Mercein, Gregory Northrop, and  Darrie Lawrence.

Jane Page, new to FST, will be directing Rabbit Hole.  She will be working closely with FST Staff Member Marcella Beckwith (Scenic and Costume Design), and Colleen Jennings who will be the lighting designer.

Rabbit Hole begins August 8th and runs through August 26th, 2007 at the Keating Mainstage.   Tickets are $19-$32 and may be purchased from the FST Box Office in person or by calling (941) 366-9000.
