Public Forum Planned to Discuss Progress on The iQuilt Plan June 14

By:

The public is invited to a forum to discuss progress on the iQuilt Plan on Tuesday, June 14. The forum will take place at Hartford Public Library, 500 Main Street, Hartford, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The special emphasis of this meeting will be the renovation of Bushnell Park. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about the work in progress, comment on design alternatives for the project areas, and meet and talk with the project team and other stakeholders. Those planning to attend the forum should RSVP to rsvp@theiquiltplan.org.

The presentation will be led by project planning principal and Hartford native Doug Suisman. Suisman is the principal of Suisman Urban Design of Los Angeles and the recipient of the 2006 American Institute of Architects' international award for best urban design.

Envisaged as a loose grid of park-to-river pedestrian routes, the iQuilt aims to weave together Hartford's key cultural sites and institutions through innovative programs and place-making. To move this from vision to reality, The City is working with the State, and a host of arts, corporate and community organizations to advance this culture-based effort to revitalize Hartford's economy and neighborhoods.
