Project Shaw Presents WIDOWERS' HOUSES, 4/23

By:

Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presents George Bernard Shaw's WIDOWERS' HOUSES – the play that started him on his epic playwriting journey – on Monday, April 23 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. The show is produced and directed by David Staller.

Now in its seventh sold-out year, Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW made history in December 2009 as the first company ever to present every play (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches) written by George Bernard Shaw.

WIDOWERS' HOUSES follows the youthful adventures of a callow young man enjoying his wealth until he discovers its source. This wonderful comedy is amazingly timely, dealing with nefarious profits squeezed from inner-city real estate. Everything, in this world, comes down to negotiating anything to get what you want.

The cast features Richard Easton (THE COAST OF UTOPIA), Bobby Steggert (RAGTIME), Mara Davi (WHITE CHRISTMAS), Robert Petkoff (ANYTHING GOES), Jeremy Webb (THE GLORIOUS ONES), Katherine Kellgren ("The Wake of Lorelei Lee") and David Cote (Time Out New York). The evening's
guest host is Donna Karger of NY1's "On Stage."

David Staller produces and directs all of the PROJECT SHAW performances. Rehearsals are now underway for his adaptation of Shaw's MAN AND SUPERMAN, which he is directing, as a co-production between Gingold Theatrical Group and The Irish Repertory Theatre. Tickets are
now on sale for performances of MAN AND SUPERMAN, running April 26-June 17, at the Irish Repertory Theatre, www.irishrep.org.

The co-production of MAN AND SUPERMAN is also part of GTG's larger vision of this country's first Shaw festival, to be called SHAW NEW YORK, running this spring at various venues in Manhattan as an annual event. In addition to this fully mounted production, GTG will also be sponsoring a Shaw Symposium during the afternoon of June 2nd at The Players Club. Taking a cue from Shaw, who began his arts career as a critic, the first half of this event will invite arts journalists and critics to engage in a lively debate on 'Why Critics are Necessary.' The second half of the Symposium will be given to scholars, critics, actors to provide lectures and debates on themes recurrent in MAN AND
SUPERMAN.

For reservations to WIDOWERS' HOUSES on Monday, April 23 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South), visit www.PROJECTSHAW.com. All seats are $30. Tickets for PROJECT SHAW performances are always available after the first of every month.
