Playhouse South Community Theater Hosts Auditions For RENT

Playhouse South, A Community Theater, in partnership with the AIDS Resource Center Ohio (ARC) announces open auditions for Jonathan Larson's multi-award winning sensation, Rent. Auditions will be held at the Clark Haines Theater, 3700 Far Hills Avenue at 7:00 PM on January 4 and 5, 2010, with callbacks on January 6. Performances are February 26 - March 13, 2010 (Fr-Su).

Based loosely on Puccini's opera La Boheme, the rock musical Rent follows a year in the lives of a group of friends living the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New York's East Village. AIDS functions in each character's life as a forceful reminder of mortality, futility and uncertainty, but also as an inspiration for strength through optimism, friendship, humor and enthusiasm for embracing the day.

Auditioners are asked to prepare a 1-2 minute rock or Broadway show song. Please do not choose a song that is from this show. Be prepared to dance and do cold readings. Depending on the number of people auditioning, cold reads and dance may not take place until the Wednesday callback. All auditioners must be 18 years of age or older. A head shot and resume are recommended by not required.
