Photo Flash: WBT Presents JEKYLL & HYDE

WESTCHESTER BROADWAY THEATRE is Proud To Present JEKYLL & HYDE through November 28, 2010 and Resuming December 29 - February 6, 2011

Music by Frank Wildhorn. Book & Lyrics by Leslie Bricusse
Directed by Robert Cuccioli, Musical Direction by Leo Carusone. Musical Staging by Jean-Paul Richard, Starring Xander Chauncey

Robert Cuccioli, who starred as Guido Contini in our recent production of NINE and in our record-breaking runs of Arthur Kopit/ Maury Yeston's Phantom, as well as Detective Stone in Cy Coleman's City Of Angels, will be returning to Westchester Broadway Theatre as the Director of our long
awaited encore production of Jekyll and Hyde. Robert Cuccioli received a Tony Award nomination for starring as the title characters in the Broadway premiere of Jekyll & Hyde. His other New York credits include Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, And the World Goes Round, and The Rothschilds. He is currently starring in Dietrich and Chevalier:The Musical, Off-Broadway at St. Luke's Theatre.

Adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," Jekyll & Hyde tells the story of Dr. Henry Jekyll, portrayed by Xander Chauncey, a brilliant young doctor and research scientist who, distraught over his father's mental illness, embarks upon a quest to isolate the dual elements of good and evil that are constantly struggling for supremacy inside every human being. However, when his experiment backfires, Jekyll inadvertently gives life
to Edward Hyde, his evil alter ego, a murderous being who will let loose a reign of terror on the city of London and those who had ridiculed Jekyll's research The consequences tear apart the lives of Jekyll's betrothed, Emma Carew, portrayed by Jennifer Babiak, and Lucy, a prostitute and actress, portrayed by Michelle Dawson, who is inexplicably drawn to the madness of Hyde.

Jekyll & Hyde was originally produced in 1990 at the Houston's Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre. An instantaneous success with audiences and critics alike, it went on to break box office records, and its original run was extended four times during that first summer. In 1995, the show was remounted by Houston's Theater Under the Stars and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theater. Adding to the show's momentum, stars such as Liza Minnelli and The Moody Blues soon began to record songs from the show. Finally, on April 28, 1997, Jekyll & Hyde made its Broadway debut at the
Plymouth Theatre starring Robert Cuccioli in the title role. Another resounding success, this production was nominated for 4 Tony Awards. Cuccioli's electrifying performance of the dual characters won him a Drama Desk and an Outer Critics award for Best Actor in a Musical, along
with a coveted Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. Prior to Broadway, he toured the country for 34 weeks and captured Chicago's prestigious Joseph Jefferson award for his outstanding performance in the dual roles He is featured on the original cast recordings of "Jekyll
& Hyde" (Atlantic).

The compelling songs, written by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse, reveal the emotion, the passion and the horror of this gothic thriller. The powerful and romantic pop score is brought to life by the talents With songs like "This is the Moment", "Confrontation","Someone Like You"
and "In His Eyes", the strangely charismatic story unfolds for Dr. Jekyll and his polar opposite twin Mr. Hyde.
