Photo Flash: WAYS OF THE HEART Plays Shaw Festival Through 10/11

By:

Ways of the Heart, the final trio in the Shaw Festival's historic presentation of Noel Coward's Tonight at 8:30 collection, opened at the Court House Theatre on Saturday, August 1, 2009.

From love and heartbreak to farce via drama and music, Ways of the Heart features the most intimate and diverse plays in the Tonight at 8:30 cycle and demonstrates the full range of Coward's genius. Obsession provokes disturbing results in the tragic The Astonished Heart; wine after a father's funeral leads to revelations of family truths in Family Album; while a couple's luck seemingly runs out, but returns with style and grace in the comedy Ways and Means.

Directed by long time Shaw Festival ensemble member Blair Williams, Ways of the Heart features the ensemble cast of Claire Jullien, Laurie Paton, David Jansen, Michael Ball, Andrew Bunker, Lisa Codrington, Patrick McManus, Jenny Young and Wade Bogert-O'Brien. Set designed by Sue LePage, costumes designed by Judith Bowden, lighting design by Louise Guinand, choreography by Jane Johanson and musical direction and arrangements by Ryan deSouza. The stage management team includes Stage Manager Diane Konkin and Assistant Stage Manager Barry Burns.

Ways of the Heart began preview performances on Tuesday, July 21; opened Saturday, August 1; and plays in repertory until Sunday, October 11.

The Shaw Festival produces and presents the work of George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) and playwrights writing anywhere in the world during, or about, the era of Shaw's lifetime - plays about the beginning of the modern world.
