Photo Flash: Tarell Alvin McCraney Honored With The New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award

The first New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award, a prize to honor an American playwright with a recent professional theater debut in New York City, was awarded to Tarell Alvin McCraney for his play "The Brothers Size."

The prize was presented on May 27 by Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. publisher of The New York Times, at a ceremony held at The New York Times Building in Manhattan. Guests in attendance included Rocco Landesman, the new chairman of the National Endowment of the Arts; actor's Marian Seldes, Marian Solkol and Rodney To; singers Karen Akers, Darius de Haas and KT Sullivan; broadcasting legend Joe Franklin; and playwrights Quiara Hudes, Tina Landau, James Lapine and Lynn Nottage.
