Photo Flash: Rodney Chaise Williams Wins NAACP Award

Rodney Chaise Williams won the Best Actor Award at Monday's NAACP Theatre Awards, which took place at the Directors Guild of America.  He was also nominated for Best Playwright, with Marlio Sterling, for Strange Fruit on Rye. The show is schedule to reopen in the Los Angeles area at the Miles Theatre.

Other winners of NAACP Theatre Awards included Laurence Fishburne and Valarie Pettiford, with George C. Wolfe the winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award and Usher Raymond the recipient of a Spirit Award.  Chandra Wilson of "Grey's Anatomy" and Steve Harris of "The Practice" co-hosted the ceremony.

The NAACP Theatre Awards, a coveted honor, are given for excellence in theatre featuring African American themes and performers.
