Photo Flash: One Night Only Concert, 'Street Lights for Obama'

Street Lights For Obama, a one-night-only benefit concert of Joe Drymala's new hip-hop/pop musical Street Lights, premiered this Sunday, August 17th at 8pm at The Zipper Factory. Ryan J. Davis produced and directed. All sales benefit Obama For America. Davis currently serves on Obama's Pride NYC Leadership Committee.  Maria Passanete, the Democratic candidate for the New York Council, introduced the show.

Street Lights follows inner city teens as they strive to create hope in their community and make their lives extraordinary. It is the second major collaboration for Davis & Drymala and they've released free tracks to the Original Concept Recording on streetlightsmusical.com.

Sibling Entertainment announced earlier this week plans to open White Noise, their first musical, on Broadway in 2009.  White Noise, which Davis conceived & directed and Drymala wrote, premiered two years ago in a sold-out run at The New York Musical Theatre Festival, received strong reviews and was featured on Good Morning America & ABC Primetime Live.

Lauretta Vaughn, of CBS' As The World Turns joins the company along with Lelund Derond Thompson, Jasmine Torres, Jason Michael Miller, Jhon Christopher, Jose Luis Trujillo, Ebony Hood, and Markita Prescott. Already announced are: Michael Balderrama (In The Heights), Kenita Miller (Xanadu), Andrew Arrington (Godspell),  Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Spelling Bee), Krystal Brown (RENT), Kevin Curtis (NYMF '08's Twilight and Manchego), Amber A. Harris, Natalie Weiss, & Dominique Elise Porter.

Additional Credits: Book, Music, & Lyrics by Joe Drymala, Directed & Produced by Ryan J. Davis, Music Director Sonny Paladino, Choreography by Todd L. Underwood, Casting by Daryl Eisenberg, Associate Producers Adam J. Thompson & Joy Ganes, Stage Manager Theresa Flanagan, Press Representative Joseph Papa, & New Media Coordinator Cassie Corrigan.

The Street Lights For Obama Host Committee features members of the New York Theatre & Political Communities; Ryann Ferguson, Ryan J. Davis & Kevin Curtis, Joe Drymala & Cassie Corrigan, Adam J. Thompson, Judy Davis, Terry McConnell, Joy Ganes, Matt Walters, Allen Roskoff, Akin Salawu, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Jeevan Padiyar, Maria Derr, Dorian Davis, David Silverstone, Dan Goldman, Jeffrey Mead Kurzon, Scott Nevins, Daniel Kressman, Joseph Papa, & Lisa Lambert.
