Michelle Federer, the original Nessarose of Broadway's Wicked, shared her talents with Broadway Artists Alliance and lead a Wicked-themed Master class on Saturday, January 19, 2008.

Broadway Artists Alliance is the dynamic not-for-profit educational organization that is quickly gaining a reputation for ensuring the future of great Broadway talent by bringing together Broadway artists and promising young performers. They began 2008 with Federer and Telsey & Co. casting director, Joe Langworth, continuing their one-day master class series.

Federer participated in a Q&A, then lead a master class in "Song Interpretation" for a group of lucky and talented young performers, ages 10-21. She explained the importance of memorization and the strength to pursue as an artist, describing the magical moment that "suddenly you'll get inspired" and your career will fall into place.

Participants of this one day master class gained the benefit of audition training and feedback from both Federer and Joe Langworth (Telsey & Co). Langworth stressed the importance of basing one's audition and performance with truth. Both instructors emphasized that the students should always ask themselves, "Who are you singing this to?"  Joe passionately stressed the importance of the singer forming a real life relationship with the song.

Broadway Artists Alliance's 2008 Master Class Series began with the Wicked-themed master class, closely followed by the reprise of the Spring Awakening-themed master class. Additional upcoming classes feature special guest instructors from Broadway's Young Frankenstein, The Little Mermaid and Spamalot.

Although space is limited, all one-day master classes are open to returning and new students ages 10-21. Interested students are welcome to visit www.broadwayartistsalliance.org/masterclasses  to apply for all Broadway Artists Alliance events, and to view a list of all upcoming one-day master classes.

Previous guest speakers and one-day master class instructors for Broadway Artists Alliance include Sutton Foster, Beth Leavel, Stephen Schwartz, Jason Robert Brown, John Lloyd Young, Ashley Brown, Lea Michele, Megan McGinnis, Jonathan Groff and John Gallagher Jr. For more information about Broadway Artists Alliance, please visit www.broadwayartistsalliance.org
