Thursday, September 27, The Center for Arts Education hosted its first-ever Arts Smart New York, A Friendraising Celebration at the Herman Miller National Design Center in Manhattan. The goal for the event was to raise awareness about The Center for Arts Education and the need for arts education in NYC public schools – among important decision makers in government, education, cultural institutions and the general public.
Laura Bell Bundy, star of the hit show Legally Blonde stopped by to show her support before her curtain and Leonard Lopate hosted the night's festivities.
CAE honored Councilman Domenic Recchia and Councilman Robert Jackson for their long-standing support of arts education in NYC public schools.
Among the 85 supporters, Arts Smart New York also brought out some key VIPs including: NY State Senator Eric Schneiderman, Councilwoman Gale Brewer, Laurie Tisch and Jody Arnhold
