Rehearsals are underway for GREED! THE MUSICAL. This new musical, with music, lyrics and book by Barry Libin asks the age old question, "What would you do for a fortune?"

The cast includes Stacie Bono, Ari Butler, Angela DeCicco, Rita Gardner, Chris Hoch, Lorinda Lisitza, Ramona Mallory, Patrick Richwood, Robert Rokicki, Stewart Schneck, Allison Spratt and Gordon Stanley.

Director Randal Myler (Ain't Noting But the Blues, Love Janis, Almost Heaven) says of cast member Rita Gardner, "She is one of the American theatre's great national treasures. I am very honored to be working with her." Fellow cast member Ramona Mallory can current be seen as Luisa in The Fantasticks, the role that Ms. Gardner originated. Ms. Mallory agrees with director Randal Myler. "My mind races. I am working with Rita Gardner, a woman who helped shape the history of musical theater."

Sarah E. Friedman is the Stage Manager. Musical Direction and Arrangements are by Annie Pasqua. Book, music and lyrics are by Barry Libbin. Randal Myler has received two Tony Award nominations (Best Musical/Best Book of a Musical) and a Drama Desk nomination (Best Musical Revue) for It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues, which ran at both Lincoln Center and Broadway's Ambassador Theatre.

Love, Janis, Mr. Myler's musical biography of Janis Joplin, reached 700 performances at Eric Nederlander'sVillage Theater, where he also staged Dream A Little Dream: The Mamas And The PapasMusical with Denny Dougherty. Mr. Myler's production of Hank Williams: Lost Highwayreceived its premiere at the Tony Award-winning Denver Center Theatre Company and thenmoved to the Mark Taper Forum, The Old Globe and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Regional directorial credits: Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, New Victory, B.B. King's in NYC,Geffen Playhouse, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Cincinnati Playhouse, Royal George, Virginia Stage, Missouri Rep,Meadow Brook and Bay Street. A 17-season veteran of the Denver Center, Mr. Myler's recentprojects include Touch The Names: Letters To The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, John Fante's1933, the musical version of The Immigrant and the critically acclaimed Cuban-American play Union City, New Jersey, Where Are You?, starring Rosie Perez.

His latest work (co-authored with Dan Wheetman) is Fire On The Mountain: The Music Of The Coal Mines, and he recently directed Betty Buckley in the new musical, Diner Stories at the Denver Center. Two invitation-only readings of GREED! THE MUSICAL will be presented by THE 92ND STREET Y in conjunction with KELVIN PRODUCTIONS on Monday, June 15 2009. The first reading will take place at 11:00 AM at THE 92ND STREET Y and will be followed by a brief question and answer session with Mr. Libin. The second reading will take place promptly at 4:00 PM at THE SNAPPLE THEATER CENTER.
