On Monday evening, March 28, theatrical producer Margot Astrachan and the St. George's Society of New York Arts Initiative presented a panel discussion at The National Arts Club highlighting both the DRAMA DESK AWARDS and the Obie/Drama Desk Award winning Keen Company. The star- studded panel featured Drama Desk-winning actress Montego Glover (Memphis), previous Drama Desk- nominated actors, Margaret Colin and Arian Moayed, who are starring in shows currently on Broadway; cast members Vivienne Benesch and Stephen Barker Turner from Keen Company's current production of Benefactors by Michael Frayn; and Keen Company Artistic Director Carl Forsman. Completing the panel were newly elected Drama Desk President, Isa Goldberg and Drama Desk Awards Executive Producer Robert R. Blume.
The Drama Desk Awards will be held on Monday, May 23rd at 9pm at the Hammerstein Ballroom and will be televised on the OVATION network beginning Saturday evening, June 4th at 9pm, while "Benefactors" by Michael Frayn runs through the end of April. The St. George's Society of New York is a charitable organization as well as a fellowship society. Founded in 1770 by English settlers for the purpose of offering "advice and relief" to fellow Englishmen in need or distress, its mission today is to assist elderly or disabled residents in the New York area of British and Commonwealth heritage. The Society is an influential network for expatriates and anglophiles and hosts a variety of events each month.
