Photo Flash: Annie Workshop With Andrea McArdle
A Class Act NY hosted a One Day Annie Theme Workshop on March 7th with Broadway legend, Andrea McArdle. Andrea worked with twenty-five lucky children on songs, scenes, and a dance combination from one of Broadway's most iconic shows. Kids learned the music and the dance combination to a "Hard Knock Life" and performed it for Andrea as if it were a real audition. They also worked on scenes from the show.
Andrea gave thoughtful feedback and constructive criticism to help the kids improve upon their performances. She also ran a mock audition in which she had each child sing Happy Birthday, the way Martin Charnin and Charles Strouse conducted the real auditions when she was a child.
During lunch break, Andrea answered questions about what it was like to be a child star on Broadway and what it takes to a be a professional actor. She also took pictures and signed autographs with paticipants.
Andrea will be back at A Class Act NY for another one-day master class on Columbus Day, October 12th in Roslyn, Long Island. Please check their website periodically and sign up for their e-newsletter list at www.AClassActNY.com so that you can be abreast of future workshops with Broadway stars. A Class Act NY also offers on-camera workshops, ongoing classes, Broadway camp programs, theatrical parties and private coaching.
