Photo Flash: Andre De Shields Attends The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller

Two-Time Tony Award nominee André De Shields, who recently dazzled as Applegate in the John W. Engeman Theater production of Damn Yankees, came out to support his ARCHBISHOP SUPREME TARTUFFE director Alfred Preisser and choreographer Tracy Jack at the West End Theater in New York last night, where the Dog Run Rep world premiere of Jeff Cohen's The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller, directed by Mr. Preisser and choreographed by and featuring Ms. Jack, is currently playing a limited engagement through October 3. After the show, castmembers were delighted to meet the Broadway vet.

Mr. De Shields has just returned from the L.A. set of Theo, a new film by writer/director Ezna Sands, where he wrapped his role as Mr. Sweet; and is set to portray sociologist and civil rights leader W.E.B. Dubois in Woodie King Jr.'s New Federal Theatre production of Knock Me A Kiss by Charles Smith, directed by Chuck Smith, which will have performances at the New Federal Theatre in New York, November 9-December 5.

In 1961, Michael Rockefeller, 23 years old, disappeared among the Asmat People of Papua, New Guinea. He was never heard from again. This is the story of what might have happened, as told by the Asmat people. The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller, is directed by Alfred Preisser, and choreographed by Tracy Jack, with set design by Heather Wolensky, costume design by Kimberly Glennon, lighting design by Jay Scott, sound design and stage management by Katie Hong, press and photography by Lia Chang.

The ensemble cast includes David Brown, Jr., Shannon A. L. Dorsey, Tracy Jack, David King, Sean Lum, Tyshawna Maddox, Daniel Morgan Shelley, Aaron Strand and Rawle Fitz Williams.

The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller runs through October 3 at the West End Theater, The Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew, 263 West 86th Street @ West End Avenue in New York.
