Photo Coverage: 'SUPER SHAW!' at The Players Club
As part of the 1st Irish Theatre Festival, David Staller of the acclaimed Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw series presented SUPER SHAW -- a special, one-night-only evening of wish-list Shaw on Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan.
In SUPER SHAW, acclaimed actors performed Shaw as never before -- portraying roles they have always wanted to perform, but never could... or would... until now: Marian Seldes as Higgins in a scene from PYGMALION; John McMartin as Don Juan and Judith Ivey as The Devil in a cutting from DON JUAN IN HELL. Also included will were scenes from Shaw's ARMS AND THE MAN, HEARTBREAK HOUSE and other favorites.
Directed by Mr. Staller, the cast for SUPER SHAW included, David Cote, Peter Frechette, Jason Graae, Judith Ivey, Daniel Jenkins, John McMartin, Charlotte Moore, Liz Morton, Kerry O'Malley, Marian Seldes, Tom Viola, and other participants to be announced.Mr. Staller's PROJECT SHAW, now in the fourth year of its four-year series, continues tackling every play George Bernard Shaw ever wrote. The Players Club is New York's most legendary private club. The former residence of Edwin Booth, it became a club for those interested in the arts in 1888.
