Last night, Monday, March 1, MCC Theatre hosted its starry Miscast Gala at The Hammerstein Ballroom. In attendance were Jordan Ballard, Jackie Burns, Raul Esparza, Sutton Foster, Kelsey Fowler, Montego Glover, Alison Horowitz, Anastacia McCleskey, Marin Mazzie, David Miller (Il Divo), Aaron Tveit, and Tom Wopat, host Mo Rocca, honoree Julianna Margulies, plus special guests Judith Light, Josh Charles, Quincy Tyler Bernstein, Sami Gayle and Isaac Mizrahi.
Miscast 2010 is a musical spectacular featuring Broadway's hottest stars performing songs from roles in which they would never be cast. Mo Rocca ("The Daily Show," "CBS Sunday Morning") hosted the evening. Josh Charles and Chris Noth served as honorary chairs. Funds raised from Miscast help MCC Theater produce some of the most talked-about new work Off Broadway and support their Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, as well as their literary development work with emerging playwrights.
This year's event honors actor Julianna Margulies, a dedicated member of MCC Theater's Board of Directors and an alumni artist who appeared in the theater's 2003 production of Intrigue with Faye. She just won a 2010 Golden Globe Award for her starring role on the CBS hit "The Good Wife" and is an Emmy Award winner for her work on the landmark NBC series, "ER." She can also be seen in the upcoming motion picture City Island. She has appeared in numerous films and television projects and throughout her career has consistently returned to the stage both on and Off Broadway. MCC Theater honors her for her commitment to taking risks as an artist and for her long-standing support of MCC's mission.
