The Pet Rocks®, a major craze during the wild 70's before they disappeared from sight for more than 30 years, have re-emerged in the form of 12 Pet Rock® characters who were introduced to New York kids and collectors at a Pet Rock Scavenger Hunt in the Central Park Zoo today Saturday, May 9th, 2009.
Broadway celebrities, including Megan Hilty, the Drama Desk Award nominated actress who stars in the stage musical "9 To 5"; Carey Anderson, Jennifer Barnhart, Christian Anderson, "Kate Monster" and "Trekkie Monster", from Broadway's long-running "Avenue Q"; young actor Henry Hodges, who was seen in three productions on Broadway last season - "Mary Poppins," "Macbeth" and "13," and radio deejay Johnny Rocks, as well as other notables, kicked off the Central Park Zoo Scavenger Hunt.
The new Pet Rock® Characters have been produced by I-Star Entertainment, LLC in collaboration with the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (CAAF), which provides services to families who have children or parents with HIV.
